Are you experiencing a shift in your soul? Is something awakening within you, making you question everything, including yourself? Are you starting to remember the truth of who you really are, but feel confused, lost, and alone?
What you may be experiencing is a Spiritual Awakening. Your soul is wanting to transcend beyond itself and transition into the next level of evolution. This is a good thing, but it can also be "scary" and unsettling when you don't know what is happening. Spiritual growth is a process and it comes in waves. At times your soul may be in "rest mode", yearning for peace and quiet, for reflection of sorts. At other times it may feel like you are surging forward at high speed and there's no way to stop or slow down. When you experience deep transformation and inner growth, there will be moments of pain and grief as you let go of who you thought you were and become who you're meant to be. Your beliefs begin to changeYou may begin to notice that some of the beliefs you held onto so tightly begin to change. They no longer resonate with your truth. You may even question how you believed certain things in the first place. Regardless, what was once true for you, is no longer true. Throughout our lives, we tend to unconsciously take on the beliefs and opinions of others; some are even ingrained in us from birth. When your soul awakens, however, it starts to shed all the beliefs that don't align with who you really are, and what you truly desire. This is a beautiful time to empower yourself by choosing to only allow into your life what feels good and right for you, and giving yourself permission to release what no longer serves you. Simply said, take what you need, and leave the rest. Free your own mind. “Your only obligation in any lifetime is to be true to yourself” - Richard Bach You feel there's more to lifeDo you have a deep sense of longing? A feeling that there is more to life and more to who you are, but can’t put your finger on what that "something" is? Are you finding that what once brought you joy and fulfillment, no longer fills you? I remember when I experienced my Spiritual Awakening, I had this deep inner knowing that there was more to who I was, and felt I was meant to be of service to others; I just didn't know in what capacity. I didn't know what that looked like for me. This left me feeling ungrounded and uncertain, having a knowing, but not knowing. Eventually I was lead down the path of Reiki Energy Healing, and I soon began helping others on their own healing and spiritual journey. That "void" you may be feeling is your soul remembering what you came here to do, and it's restless and ready to begin a life of helping others, in whatever way that ends up looking for you. It's important to have patience during this process and refrain from trying to force things, as you may miss what you're being pulled toward. I suggest just observing these feelings at first and being curious about what you are drawn to, and what interests you. In time, the truth will reveal itself, as it always does. Trust the process. “To be in time is to be asleep: to be awake is to be in eternity” - Osho You experience synchronicitiesWhen your soul awakens, it begins to see things it didn't notice before, and as you awaken to yourself, you also awaken to the beauty and synchronicities of the Universe. This may come in the way of seeing the same time on the clock throughout the day, or license plates or street signs that seem to hold some sort of significance. Or maybe a friend mentions something to you and suddenly other people are talking about the same thing. Could these signs be random coincidences? Possibly, but chances are they are invitations and opportunities for you to explore things a little deeper. This doesn't mean you need to know what every sign and message means, some things we're just not meant to know or figure out, but what it does mean, is that the Universe is asking you to pay attention. These signs are the soul’s wisdom bringing you closer to your own truth. “Not all those who wander are lost” - J. R. R. Tolkien You have a desire for solitudeWhen we experience a Spiritual Awakening, we often feel the pull to retreat into oneself, to stop and reflect on our lives, our relationships, and what's important to us. The truth is, we spend a lot of our lives going, moving, doing, but rarely do we stop and just be. We don't allow ourselves moments of silence to go into the depths of our own soul and connect to our ever present spirit. A Spiritual Awakening almost "pushes" you back into self, so you can reflect on what is working for you and what isn't. It's a time to get real and honest with yourself so you can make any necessary changes that you have been avoiding making. It doesn't mean you need make bold and drastic changes, it means this is the time to gently and intuitively let go of what no longer resonates and aligns with the essence of who you are. It means taking small steps towards the changes you desire. Stopping and reflecting also helps us connect to repressed emotions and memories within our unconsciousness so we can heal old wounds and love all the parts of us that are asking to be seen and felt. Feeling is healing. Self reflection doesn’t judge, blame, or criticize, it simply holds space for oneself from a compassionate, caring, and gentle place. “I am in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing” - Louise Hay Transformation of the EgoThe ego is created in the mind, by the mind, however, the thoughts and beliefs we have about ourselves are often far from the truth of who we really are, at the very core of our essence. Our ego likes to create conceptualized versions of who and what we imagine ourselves to be so, when you experience a Spiritual Awakening, you also experience an awakening of the soul, and the ego. This awakening can "force" us to look at all the parts of our constructed identity, the good, the bad, and the ugly, so we can recognize, and then release versions of ourselves that no longer align with our soul's truth. This can be a pretty intense and painful process, yet at the same time, it's one of the most beautiful transformations you will ever go through. As you "un-become," you become your true authentic self, beyond the masks and illusion of the ego. “The path of awakening is not about becoming who you are. Rather it is about unbecoming who you are not” - Albert Schweitzer A sense of onenessOneness is an experience that transcends the mind. When we experience the feeling of oneness, we feel a deep and emotional connection with everything, and everyone around us. I recall a time when I was at a beach and I was in the water floating on my back. My ears were emerged in the water and I could hear the beating of my heart, and the depths of my breath. I looked up at the vast blue sky above me and I had this surreal and profound feeling of being nothing, yet being everything at the same time. It evoked profound emotions within me that I'll never soon forget. It was in that very moment I understood that we are all connected, we are all one, and that nothing, and no one can exist without the other. This awareness helped me see others in a different perspective as well. I could no longer judge the path of another because if I judged someone else, in truth, I was judging myself. The feeling of oneness also deepens our connection with nature and animals, in fact, we begin to see most things in a new light, with a new sense of love and appreciation. It's such a wonderful gift to receive. Have you ever experienced those moments, perhaps when you're driving in a car on a warm sunny day, and you suddenly get this sense that everything is okay, everything is perfect, just as it is. It's a very fleeting and rare moment, but that's the feeling of oneness, that's the ultimate connection you're feeling to the Universe and the unseen energy that exists all around you. Although the feeling leaves as quick as it came, it's an experience that remains within you, forever. “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it” - Helen Keller
